The Dance Discovery Series
The Dance Discovery Series were developed by East Dance Studios/JEDEC to provide the most comprehensive and enjoyable dance education experience for our students. The student's enjoyment of exploring and developing artistic and technical skills coupled with the attractiveness for parents to have one, tuition and costume cost effective class has made the classes of our Dance Discovery Series some of our most popular.
Our programs are designed encourage and inspire, build upon and progress with a child's natural movement incorporating muscle and cognitive development through music, creative movement and the magical word of dance! Ballet FUN-amentals and terminology are incorporated along with listening skills, team building skills, counting, rhythm, memorization and artistic expression and introduction of dance genres that progress with your child's dance education experience with us.
The series starts with "Dance Discoveries" for pre-schoolers (age 3/4), "Dance Adventures" for Minis (ages 5-7), and "Dance Quest" (for Youth ages 8-10 [and advanced minis who are 7 years old] who are either new, or newer to dance or for the Youth student who wishes to add a fun class to their core, individualized in dance subjects schedule).
Both Ballet Shoes and Tap Shoes are required for all Dance Discoveries, Dance Adventures, and Dance Quest Classes.
FAQ: If particular colors aren't required, is there a certain color that that JEDEC recommends for shoes?
Answer: We find that "Ballet Pink" Ballet Shoes, and Black Tap and Jazz shoes are readily available and the most commonly purchased for pre-school and minis ages. For Youth and Dance Quest we recommend Black Ballet shoes and Black Tap Shoes. This can be helpful come recital time as JEDEC makes every effort to go "with the majority" in choosing shoes colors so not to add the cost of having to buy another pair of shoes.
Pre-School Dance Discoveries
Little ones discover the fun and joy of creativity and movement in both Ballet and Tap (alternating weeks) in our welcoming, age appropriate and fun dance education environment. Dress Code: Leotard, tights, Ballet shoes, Tap Shoes. Students may also wear optional Ballet skirts and sweaters. Parents and students may chose their color combinations of dancewear. We find it encourages the students individuality and the parents' frugality, and is just one of our family friendly policies. Only one recital costume deposit is due for combination classes.

Minis (5/7) Dance Adventure
An educational dance adventure, this fun comprehensive class explores and develops artistic and technical skills in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop & Musical Theater dance genres. Students wear the "Ballet base" of leotard, tights and ballet shoes. Tap shoes will also be needed for this class' dance adventures. Students may wear the color combination of their choice, which promotes individuality and eases costs of dancewear as well. Optional items such as Ballet skirts, dance shorts, dance pants and sweaters may be worn over the Ballet Base. Only one costume deposit is due per combination class.

Kids Dance Quest
A perfect class for ages 7-11 whose students are seeking an educational dance adventure of experiences throughout the year in: Hip Hop, Musical Theater, Ballet, Tap, Jazz and More all in one convenient class.
Dress Code: Leotard, tights, Black Ballet shoes and Black Tap Shoes. Students may wear optional "bike shorts" or "jazz pants" over their leotards if they prefer. Only one recital costume is due for combination classes.

The Dance Discovery Series with an introduction to Acro:
The Dance Discovery Series with an introduction to Acro offer extended classes for pre-schoolers, minis, and youth students. All of the dance educational elements of these classes will be offered in addition to a comfortable, encouraging and age/level appropriate introduction to the very basics of Acro Dance skills. The dress code and costume information is the same for the dance portion, and for Acro, students and parents must take special care to adhere to the Acro dress codes (please see Acro section of website).
