Hip Hop

Hip-Hop introduces dance students to the various aspects of hip-hop: popping, locking, stepping, breaking, house, and other styles that have emerged from the communities of America. The movement is technically tied to complex and often driving rhythms. The origins of hip-hop will also be explored through the use of steps and combinations.

Hip-Hop Dress Code: Jazz base, be sure to acquire jazz shoes (not dance sneakers) for class as that is what will be needed for students participating in the recital. Dance sneakers are expensive and therefore optional and should be bought in addition to jazz shoes, not in replacement of jazz shoes. Also: please remember to wear hair up.
