JEDEC FUN FACTS: Did you know?

Miss JoAnn (founder, owner, artistic director) and Miss Kelly (dance educator, JEDEC production stage director and current President of the Dance Teacher's Club of Boston) appear on a book cover together? The book is Jazz Dance Class by Gus Giordano. The photo (taken when the two studied together under Gus Giordano in Chicago) also appeared in a Dance Magazine and the Gus Giordano web-site.

Dance Teacher Now magazine took notice of JEDEC's training and standards of teachers and interviewed JoAnn East for an article on the subject in 2007.

JEDEC History

The dream of opening JEDEC was realized in 1991 with its opening at School Square, Winchendon (where Colonial Bank now stands, behind the Winchendon Rocking Horse). Since then, hundreds of students and parents from over 20 surrounding communities have chosen and enjoyed the JEDEC Dance Program. In 1995, the dance school expanded to its current 286 Central Street, Winchendon location, which the East family has owned since 2000. In 2004 JEDEC expanded once again with the opening of a second additional location at 7 Chapel Street, Ashburnham. The JEDEC facilities offer fully equipped dance studios with thousands of square feet of dance space as well as parent waiting room areas. Fortunately, both locations offer off-street, privately owned paved parking lots, air-conditioning for the dancers, and both locations have expansion potential in the buildings so if JEDEC’s space needs continue to grow, they can be accommodated while remaining at our popular, established locations.
